Provost COVID-19 Faculty Update: Reminders for Start of Remote Instruction on Monday

Dear Colleagues,

We very much appreciate all of your efforts at this time and hope that you and your families are well.

Here are a few important reminders:

1. Be sure that you have sent messages to all of your students to let them know you are working on revising the course to restart on Monday the 23rd. As all classes are cancelled this week, faculty should not require anything to be submitted or due nor can testing occur during this period—all deadlines and due dates should be amended to take place on the 23rd or later and messaging sent to students accordingly with sufficient time for them to prepare those materials—this applies to all class formats (online, hybrid, FTF).

2. Yesterday for about 30 minutes, Blackboard had an erroneous message regarding class cancellation dates –please confirm to students that classes do start again on March 23. We will message students as well.

3. Please refer to this page Keep on Teaching for all resources, including copies of all official messages sent to students and faculty, all links to ITand CTLE resources, and tips on how to go online.

4. We have developed a student resources page. Please review it yourself and direct students to it. We continue to expand the content. Special note: students may be able to get free internet.

5. The Texas National Guard has been activated; this may affect some of our students. We have policy in place, so if you hear from a student, please direct the student to Veterans Services.

All information from these update messages will also be available on the Provost’s Office website: Keep on Teaching
